Both were in the hunt for League honours right up to the penultimate Saturday of the season. However, with Hindsford taking a third title in a row Heys had to be content with fourth place and Georgians sixth.
Both sides also enjoyed great runs in their respective County Cups. Heys reached the last four of the Lancashire Shield whilst Georgians were beaten finalist in the Cheshire Cup.

Having come so close last time round both teams will be hoping to go on and land silverware this season and seem likely to again be in the hunt for what will doubtless prove to be a tight battle for the league title.

Georgians have lost a couple of players from last season but brought in four new players and promoted youngsters from their successful youth set up.

Meanwhile, Heys have retained all of last year’s squad and added a sprinkling of new faces as well as being boosted by the returns of Marvin Walters, Mark Drew, Brad Lyons and Chris Denham.

The game provides both teams with the chance to put down a marker for the months ahead. Even on the opening day, the three points at stake may prove vital in the final analysis.

A cracking start to the season is in prospect.
