Second half horror show gives Gregorians victory

Heys Reserves were beaten 2-1 at home by Manchester Gregorians this afternoon.

In bitterly cold, blustery conditions a poor second half showing against resolute opponents proved the undoing of Jeff Kavanagh's side as the visitors came from behind to win.

The first half gave no indication of what was to come as Heys dominated after taking an early lead through Lewis Temple. The Heys striker was on hand to head home from close range after only five minutes. Gary Massey (pictured) was instrumental in the build up with a strong run and shot that was parried by the Gregs 'keeper.

Danny Eyres saw a shot well saved and Liam Dunn headed against the bar on the back of some fluent football as Heys led 1-0 at the break.

However, they never kicked on in the second half and Gregs seized control, capitalising on some sloppy passing to dominate possession.

Two goals in five minutes, just after the hour, both from set pieces brought
the visitors level and they were never troubled from there on in as Heys slipped meekly to a disappointing defeat.
