Injury to Elton Vale player halts game

Heys Reserves home game with Elton Vale tonight was abandoned moments before half time due to a head injury to an Elton Vale player.

Matt Jolly's side had just taken a 1-0 lead through Jon Stephenson and the Elton Vale 'keeper sent off for dissent when as the players cleared the penalty area the Vale player was found out cold in the six yard box.

An ambulance was called and the player was able to walk from the pitch before going to hospital.

However, the referee made the decision to abandon the game.

Stockport Georgians Reserves took over at the top with an impressive 5-0 win at Rochdale Sacred Heart.

They top the table by one point but Heys have two games in hand.

The teams meet at Cromley Road on Saturday (2pm). If Heys win they win the League, any other result would leave them with work to do when they meet Elton Vale away on Tuesday and most likely back at Adie Moran Park on Thursday night.
