Look ahead to Tuesday nights' game with Heys needing one point to become Champions

Heys host Wythenshawe Amateurs at Adie Moran Park on Tuesday night (6.45pm) needing one point to become Manchester League Premier Division Champions.

Saturday’s 3-0 win at Hindsford pushed Heys to the brink of bringing the title back to Prestwich for the first time since 2007.

They will come up against a Wythenshawe side who did their best to derail Heys hopes earlier in the month when holding Jon Lyons’ side to a 1-1 draw.

It took a superb goal from Lee Bruce to earn a point in a see saw game that could have gone either way.

Wythenshawe have had a good second half to the season. They struggled in the early part of the season and at the turn of the year sat just above the relegation zone.

However, a run of 18 points from ten games lifted them into a comfortable mid table position, a sequence that included that draw with Heys

Three successive defeats followed before a 3-2 home win over AVRO on Saturday ended the run.

It’s been a busy end of season for Heys and there have been some nervous performances in recent weeks. However, Saturday’s win was as assured as they could have hoped for. They will hope to repeat it at an expectant Adie Moran Park on Tuesday.

Can all the hard work that started on a balmy midsummers June afternoon in Heaton Park deliver its reward.? Let’s hope so.

Admission is Adults £2 / Concessions £1/ Under 16’s FREE.

Programmes £1 featuring Jon Lyons’ column, Question Time with Lee Bruce and John Blackley whilst Steve Braithwaite picks his best Heys XI from his years as a Manager at the club.
