Round up of today's action

Whilst Heys found themselves without a game today many of their title rivals were in action and dropped points to add to the increasing drama at the top of the table.

League leaders Royton were beaten 3-2 at home by Manchester Gregorians to put a huge dent in their hopes. With only one game left to play it will now take a big turnaround in results if the Oldham side are to claim the title. For Gregorians, it all but ensured they will avoid relegation. Their safety will be guaranteed if Old Alts, beaten 1-0 at home by AVRO today, lose to Stockport Georgians on Tuesday night.

Georgians put themselves in a strong position today with a 2-0 home win over Springhead to leapfrog Heys into fourth spot. As they still have to play Heys the title is effectively in their own hands although at present Heys can still accumulate more points.

The big game of the day was between Champions Hindsford and third placed Dukinfield Town. However, the game ended goalless, a result that did neither side any real favours.

However, neither are out of the equation yet with Hindsford having home ties against Heys and Georgians in their last two fixtures, the outcomes of which will prove significant both for the trio involved and Dukinfield who will look to seize on points being dropped with two of their last three games at home.

AFC Monton's late surge was checked by Walshaw who grabbed a 3-3 draw at New Alder Park.

East Manchester ended a run of six straight defeats and almost guaranteed that they are safe from relegation with a 3-0 home win over Rochdale Sacred Heart who remain under threat and will be hoping Old Alts lose at Stockport on Tuesday. Indeed, if Old Alts lose they will relegated.
