Wednesday 22nd April, Adie Moran Park, 6.15pm.

If Heys are going to move up to the North West Counties League they are going to have to overcome two of their most long standing Premier Division rivals.

East Manchester are their opponents on Saturday but first on Wednesday night AVRO stand between Jon Lyons team and the points they crave to secure a top five spot in the table.

Matches between the teams have, by and large, always been tight, hard fought affairs. One only has to go back as recently as January when they met at the Lancaster Club and produced a classic in the mud which Heys emerged from as 2-1 winners.

Heys showed great resolve that day in the midst of a second half onslaught and they will need the same again this evening against a side in good form and who, with games in hand could ultimately over take them.

AVRO are presently ninth in the table, nine points behind Heys but with six games in hand. It’s imperative Heys get the three points.

A lack of goals has hit Heys in recent weeks with four of their five strikers unavailable. However, they will hope to have Ashford Blake back as they look to add the goals that their overall play has merited.

They come up against an AVRO side who have won four of their last six although their last three games have featured only one goal suggesting another tight affair is on the cards.

Heys ran riot here at Adie Moran Park last season winning 6-0. A repeat would be great but ultimately it is all about getting the three points however they come.
