2-0 win at Radcliffe Town

Goals from Abid Uddin and Jamie Treanor gave Heys a 2-0 Kenyon Cup win at Radcliife Town tonight.

Both goals came in the first half of a competitive game which saw Jon Lyons give run outs to 16 players in the club's first pre season outing.

Heys bossed the first half and took the lead after 15 minutes when Uddin marked his return to the club with a lofted shot on the turn after the home 'keeper failed to clear his lines.

Treanor, then marked his return to the club, after three years at Walshaw, with Heys second goal from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after he himself had been brought down.

Erike Sousa was twice denied by fine saves and a Liam Dunn shot hit the inside of the post as Heys threatened to run amok.

However, with frequent substitutions, they did not maintain the same fluency and in a scrappy second half the best two chances fell to a plucky Radcliffe side with Rob Sadler denying one opportunity with a fine one on one save.

The game also saw Marvin Walters play his first match after an 18 month absence due to injury.

Heys are in action again tomorrow night (Wednesday) when they host Maine Road in a friendly at Sandgate Road, kick off 7.15pm.

Team v Radcliffe: Sadler, Massey, Oparah, Winstanley, Walters, Woodcock, Sousa, Hodson, Treanor, Uddin, McKay Subs: Matt Jolly, Dunn, Edgington, Maplesden, Walsh.
