Reserves march on at home to Hollinwood

Heys picked up their first league win of the season with a 3-2 victory at Chapel Town this afternoon.

In an often untidy game Heys did just enough to take the points despite their least impressive performance of the season football wise.

However, they did show plenty of determination to fashion out the victory, particularly late in the game when the hosts launched a concerted spell of pressure to try and salvage a point.

The game was also not without controversy as Erike Sousa was denied a goal from a close range header that went in under the bar but came out through a hole in the roof of the net. However, the officials deemed that although the ball had gone through the hole it had done so by landing on the back of the net!

That would have given Heys a 19th minute equaliser after they had fallen behind in 10 seconds to a Josh Wood goal.

Heys then had numerous chances but were found wanting in front of goal and could have fallen further behind but for a couple of great saves from Rob Sadler.

However, Paul Tierney broke through to level in the 27th minute to send the sides in even at the break.

The hosts arguably had the better of things in the second half but Heys picked them off in attack to open up a 3-1 lead going into the last ten minutes thanks to strikes from Grant Mody (pictured) and Mark Drew.

Chapel Town pulled one back though to set up a tense finish but Heys held out for the win.

Heys Reserves marched on with another emphatic win - 4-0 at home to Hollinwood.

Full reports to follow.
