Radcliffe Borough derby revived in pre-season schedule

Heys will play FC United of Manchester at Adie Moran Park as part of their pre-season schedule.

The fixtures, announced this morning, also feature a revival of the Heys v Radcliffe Borough derby fixture.

In what is a real coup for the club the FC United game will be played on Tuesday 21st July and is sure to attract a large attendance.

Confirming the fixture on their website this morning an FC United spokesman said "The game has been planned across many years during which Prestwich have been upgrading their ground to allow them to apply for membership of the NWCFL. We are very pleased to finally be able to include this friendly against a local club."

Confirmation of kick off time and admission details will follow.

It is close on 20 years since Heys and Radcliffe Borough last met and over 30 since the sides met competitively in the Cheshire League when bumper Bank Holiday crowds flocked to Grimshaws. The revival of the fixture is sure to attract much local interest when they meet at Adie Moran Park on Saturday 1st August, kick off 3pm.

Heys will also play away friendlies at Beechfield United on the 11th July and Tempest United on 25th July.

Additionally, Heys will compete in the Atherton Charity Cup, Bolton Hospital Cup and defend the Kenyon Cup.

In the latter Heys have been drawn in a group with Ainsworth, Heywood St. James and Breightmet United.

It all adds up a summer football feast and it's only just over seven weeks away.
