Last years success earns nomination in Regional Awards

Heys have been nominated for the Club of the Year Award in the Bury Sports Awards.

The Bury Sports Awards provides an opportunity for members of the community to gain recognition and reward for their outstanding contribution to sport in Bury. The awards are also designed to celebrate and highlight individual sporting achievements over the last twelve months.

There are ten categories which individuals, schools or clubs can be entered for through the nomination process, with the winners of each category going forward to represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards in November.

The 10 Greater Manchester Boroughs hold their own Award ceremonies to celebrate the hard work and achievement of those involved in sport across their Borough.

Winners in the categories of Volunteer, Coach, Sports Achiever, Disabled Sports Achiever, Club of the Year and Unsung Hero: Special Recognition Award are put forward to the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.

Heys nomination comes on the back of a hugely successful 2015-16 season.

The 1st team completed a treble. They won the Manchester League Premier Division by 13 points and then won the League’s Gilgryst Cup to complete a double.

On top of that they then won the Bolton Hospital Cup, beating Atherton Collieries 1-0 in the Final at the Macron Stadium.

Heys Reserves also completed a League and Cup double in the Manchester league Reserves Division section.

The most successful season in the club’s history was then crowned by their promotion to the Hallmark Security League bringing semi-professional football back to the town after a 30 year absence.

The Bury Awards winners will be announced in October.
