Striker signs in at Adie Moran Park

Heys are delighted to announce that they have completed the signing of Striker Brian Matthews from Congleton Town.

The 29-year-old forward has scored 16 goals in 24 appearances for the Hallmark Security League Premier Division side this season including one against Heys in the Macron Cup in October.

He brings with him a wealth of experience having also played for Winsford, Mossley and Salford City in the Evo Stik League prior to joining Congleton where he has spent the last two seasons

Heys Manager Jon Lyons said today” I’m delighted to be able to bring a player of Brian’s calibre to Adie Moran Park. Whilst I’m happy with the Strikers we’ve already got, we have not got a natural goal scorer at the club”

“Brian was going at a goal a game earlier in the season but picked up an injury and since returning he has been playing in different positions, out wide and at full back. He wasn’t happy and wants to play as a Striker and that’s what I have brought him in to do - score goals”

Brian goes straight into the squad, with Heys next scheduled game at Bacup on Wednesday night (8pm).

Welcome to Prestwich Heys, Brian.
