Heys hit four as they receive the Championship trophy

Heys celebrated winning the Premier Division title with a 4-0 home win over AVRO this afternoon.

On the day they received the Trophy, Heys showed no signs of taking their foot of the gas to record their 22nd win, from 28 games and open up a 12 point lead at the top of the table.

AVRO had their moments in the game but Heys were clinical despite being without their four leading scorers in Jamie Baguley, Lee Bruce, Paul Tierney and Erike Sousa.

As has been the case so often this season though, others took their chance.

Mark Baguley opened the scoring after 30 minutes with a comfortable finish after Adam Hilton had blocked a clearance.

Hilton added Heys second in the 34th minute with an angled shot after good work by Greg Wills.

Wills then scored Heys third in the 70th minute rifling a shot inside the post.

The win was sealed in the 86th minute when Pete Hickford played a one-two with Jon Stephenson to go through and slot home.

The players then took the applause and collected their medals which were presented by Jean Carroll, wife of late Chairman John.

Heys legendary Manager of the 60's/70's Peter Gilmour then presented Captain Brad Lyons with the Championship Trophy.

A magical day on a magical season.

Match report and more to follow.
