Jon Lyons programme notes from todays postponed game with AFC Monton

Last Saturday was another focussed and important win at home to a hard working Boothstown side.

I don’t think it was the hardest of games but we had a job to do which we did to a certain degree.

Some would say the pace of our game was a little slow but a wins a win. The three points were great for us as we pulled further away in the League.

Boothstown were slightly disappointing and didn't threaten us, but it took a good save from Rob Sadler late in the 2nd half to keep them from scoring. It was a good test of his patience and concentration levels and it brought him another clean sheet. Rob’s level of focus and hard work hasn't gone without notice!

Paul Tierney was another standout player for us again. He was absolutely solid in defence and when he moved from left back to a forward role he just looked sharper than anyone.

His attitude has been great and he was my Man of the Match. Having said that though I cannot fault the attitude of any of the players. They have all been excellent.

It was good to see Jon Stephenson get on the score sheet again, that's three in two starts now. The competition up front is hotting up with us also having the option of Lee Bruce, Tierney, Jamie Baguley, Wes Bancroft, Erike Sousa and Ryan McGreevy.

Today is a great test for us playing a good Monton side. At their place I think they deserved a point out of the game. I expect another hard, close game this week but at the moment I would back my players against anyone in our league so we expect another three points.
