Neil Gilmore reflects on last weekend, vandals and the Press

On the pitch both teams have been in rich form. The 1st team have been in Cup competitions for the last two games. The first was against Premier Division side Congleton, in the Macron Cup. I wasn't at the game but I am led to believe the lads put in a shift and overcame a 3-1 deficit to come out 4-3 victors.

The Reserves played Govan at Adie Moran Park on the same day and continued with their winning run, with a 6-2 victory before last weekend they went to Heywood St James’ and returned with a 9-1 victory.

The 1st team played a very competitive Litherland Remyca in the 1st Division Cup competition. Litherland were well organised and fought until the end. However, Heys came out 2-1 winners to progress into the next round. I personally think though that Litherland have been the stand out team, Heys have played up to now.

Today's visitors City of Liverpool FC are again from Merseyside and are most welcome. Hopefully they have brought their supporters along to AMP, as they seem to have a good following. They are another of the new clubs in the league along with ourselves and are doing a good job. I think the new clubs have made the 1st Division a very competitive League which adds to the entertainment.

Over the last week it would appear someone is once again entering the ground, they are playing on the pitch and creating divots that look like they are on horseback. They do not appreciate the time and effort put in, to keep the pitch in good order.

Unlike previous occasions where the damage has been restricted to the far goal and bottom of the pitch, it would seem like a full scale game has been taking place, as the divots and scarring are all over the pitch. It is coming to

the point where action will need to be taken. If you are aware of anyone entering the ground out of official opening times, please tell them to keep out.

Some of you may have seen an article in the Prestwich & Whitefield Guide and the Bury Times last week. It is disappointing as they have gone to print without speaking to myself or anyone at the club. As you read the article it reads as if they have interviewed or spoken to Neil Kingston. A made up name and totally unhelpful to Prestwich Heys.

It must have been a quiet week for news, so to fill the paper, lets scour the planning applications and write an article to mislead people, like I said previously totally unhelpful to the club. As a result of the article, I contacted Bury council, to inform them that we are professional and have not and would not approach a newspaper in this way. We want to progress doing things the right way and want our neighbours and people of Prestwich and Whitefield to be part of the club and get behind us.

Everything we are doing has and will be done in the correct manner. This means applying for planning permission, notifying neighbours of our intentions and plans.

Just to finish off I do not recall any reporting of the criminal damage and subsequent arrest of offenders and court appearance of perpetrators. Maybe that is not classed as news, that sells papers.
