Wednesday night trip to Walshaw beckons

Heys title hopes face a tricky midweek test when they travel to Walshaw on Wednesday night (6.15pm)

It will be the third derby clash of the season and Heys will be hoping it will be third time lucky as thier hosts have won the first two.

Walshaw romped to a 6-1 win at Heys on the opening day of the season but things were much tighter when the sides met in the Gilgryst Cup in January.

In a tight match played at Darwen Academy Walshaw came out 2-1 extra time winners.

Another close encounter looks on the cards this week. Walshaw come in to the game in good form with four wins, a draw and just one defeat in the last six. That came on Saturday when they were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Hindsford.

Heys have won their last six but are all too aware of the danger their hosts will pose to that run, particularly with local bragging rights at stake.

The game is one of the many Heys have in hand on the three sides above them and they will be looking to make it count with two of those sides, Hindsford and Dukinfield, meeting on Saturday when Jon Lyons side have no game.

A big night looks on the cards at Sycamore Road, kick off 6.15pm.
