Reserves win the League title as closest rivals lose

Heys Reserves are the Manchester League Division Two Champions.

Their coronation was confirmed tonight when the only side who could prevent them topping the table, Rochdale Sacred Heart, were beaten 4-2 at Springhead.

They were the third side in a week, who had the potential to foil Heys, to lose at St. John Street a place where Heys drew 2-2 in difficult conditions back in February. At the time, Manager Jeff Kavanagh (pictured) earmarked that as a significant result and one he felt opened the door for his side to go on and win the league and in time he has been proved right.

However, it's a tremendous effort over the season that has seen them win the league with four games to spare. They have won 15 of their 22 games and lost only once whilst being third top scorers and possessing the meanest defence.

They have been in the top two for the whole season in what has been a tremendous effort, playing good football and in the right spirit as they have twice won the Respect reward.

Congratulations to Jeff, Mark and all the lads who have played their part.

A credit to the club and worthy Champions!
