Manchester League Division Two
Saturday 4th October 2008

After a delayed arrival to Dukinfield town, 'due to confusion of where Heys reserves were playing', Dave Risby's men were somewhat unsettled from the start.

Heys were forced back from the off but were soaking up pressure for the first 10 minutes, then Heys started to knock the ball around and started creating chances in and around Dukinfield's penalty area.

A low hard shot by striker Mark Faran was fumbled away by Ducinfields keeper only for Faran to go down with a pulled hamstring. Risser was left with no choice but to make an early substitution which was a blow to the team.

Dukinfield kept on pressuring the Heys defence and won a free kick 30 yards out. The well worked free kick was definitely straight off the training ground and this proved to much for the Heys defence with the ball ending up in the back of the net.

Heys didn't give up and kept on creating chance after chance but failed to ripple the home sides netting, this was down to some excellent saves from the keeper.

Half time came and went and Heys came out fighting, but couldn't seem to get the ball on the deck and play simple football. As time went on things started in to improve and Heys had most of the possession. However, it seemed to be that in the last third of the pitch Heys were lacking in both class and ideas.

With 15 minutes left, Heys kept the pressure on until a lofted clearance out of the home side area was picked up on half way and put the Heys defence on the back foot, but Mike Woodcock showed some excellent pace to track back and produce and sensational tackle in the box to prevent a second goal for the home team. Woodcock in the process, picked up a knee injury but played on.

In the dying moments of the game, Heys threw everything at Dukinfield but didn't manage to score, resulting in not only the weather being miserable but also the Heys dressing room.

Better luck this weekend lads.
